Based on an original interview survey of 181 people engaged in 11 types of miscellaneous businesses in Yangon (small business owners with stores, cab drivers, street vendors, skilled laborers, tricycle drivers, scavengers, shoe and umbrella repairers, garbage collectors, unskilled laborers, store sales workers, and restaurant waiters), the characteristics of the workers, the profitability of each occupation, and the household economy were analyzed in detail.
