An overview of Myanmar's political and economic reform efforts were presented. I will then discuss how the US, EU, and Japan are responding to these efforts, and in particular, how Japan will approach the field of economic cooperation in the future. Next, I will discuss the political and economic thinking of the Myanmar government. This discussion will shed light on the future direction of democratization in Myanmar. Finally, I will address some of the major issues facing Myanmar as it pursues reform.
