In early September 2003, I conducted an interview survey of miscellaneous workers in the capital Yangon. An overview of the age, gender, final education, place of birth, and class of the survey targets, and an introduction to the economic reality of the miscellaneous industrial class as revealed by the field survey: what kind of employment conditions do they work under, how much income do they earn, and are they able to support their households with that income?
