The research topic was "Development of Transportation Infrastructure in Myanmar and Regional Changes" and the grant amount was 1,000,000 yen. It was a single-year research grant. With this grant, I conducted my first survey research in the slum area of Hlaing Tharyar in the suburbs of Yangon, Myanmar, where I conducted a home visit survey. In this area, slums in the city were forcibly relocated to the suburbs as the transportation infrastructure connecting Yangon city and the suburbs was developed.
