The furniture and interior design of Vkhutemas were taken up mainly by A.M. Lavinsky, a professor of the Faculty of Wood Engineering, and the education and practice related to the interior design of Russian Constructivism were considered. He pointed out that the Soviet Union in the first half of the 20th century was ahead of European countries in the method of handicraft education and devised a methodology of functionalist design different from Germany.
